“ Faith to Fit”
2 Pet 3:9 tells us, “The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
This is actually possible because God has given to each man “a measure of faith”. Rom. 12:3c
Everyone has the potential to receive Jesus. I believe that’s why we can’t be saved apart from the Word of God. Rom. 10:17 says “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing the Word of God.” Eph 2:8
tells us that, “We are saved by grace through faith.” That measure, that seed lies dormant in us until we hear the Word. Then if we will receive it saving faith comes. 1 Pet. 1:23 states, “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and enduring Word of God.” If we want to stay in the condition we are with- out God, He will let us. He never overrides a persons will.
So we established that we all have faith. We exercise that faith when we believe someone we have never met but once and take some pill that we have no idea what it is believing (by faith) that it will help us feel better. We are born familiar with the concept with out anyone teaching us. We all even have the faith to be born again. The potential is there. When the Holy Spirit draws us to the right place and time and we hear the Word each of us has the potential to exercise faith and be saved.
What then? Kenneth Hagin writes in his booklet, “Greater Glory”, “I believe as Jesus had the Spirit without measure (John 3:34) we as the body of Christ each individually have the Spirit by measure.” Scripture backs that up in 1 Corinthians 12:7 which says, “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.” We each have the potential to exercise faith and move in the things of the Spirit. If you know Christ He has given each of us a degree of the Holy Spirit working in our lives. I’m talking about after His initial work bringing us into the family of God. Titus 3:5 says, ”He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.” Once that is done I’m asking, “What do we do?”
Just as God worked out everything for us to be born again now He has a special work and place for us to fit into the Body of Christ, (His Church). I’m not talking about a building but that community of true believers world wide. I am talking about Spiritual gifts. Many go their entire “Christian” lives without ever finding where they fit, where and how God has prepared them to operate most effectively for Him.
Just as it is by faith we are saved it is by faith that we move in the area of Spiritual gifts. We can hear a message, get a teaching or even read it for ourselves but somehow we have to get direction from the Word. Once we realize the direction we are heading by faith, we have to take those first steps. If we feel that God has given us a word for someone we need to go to that person and share it. If it confirms something God is already speaking to them, praise God, we (and they) are encouraged. Then the
law of ‘use’ kicks in. The more we use (exercise) it the more God gives us.If we miss the mark, if we aren’t even on the target it doesn’t hurt anything. We (people) are involved so things won’t be perfect every time.
Now go to 1 Corinthians 12:7-31 and take a look at what it says about Spiritual gifts. If you don’t already know how you have been given the ‘manifestation of the Spirit for the common good’ then ask the Lord to begin to reveal it to you. Ask Him to help your faith in this area. You will never know ‘how sweet it is’ walking with Jesus until you begin functioning within the purpose He has for you in His body. We all as believers need, “Faith to Fit” into where we are the most effective. He has a plan. Things
aren’t just happening randomly in our lives. The sooner we begin following His plan the sooner we will arrive at our destiny, the place we fit best.
Some of us need to hear this,
